New Latitude 5470

So, it seems some new Latitudes can now be ordered. I'm looking at the Latitude 5470. I like that it has a quad in the standard config.

It seems they ship with an M.2 SSD. It's not clear to me whether a bay for a 2.5" hard disk is also available. Does anyone know?

5.11 Tactical bags for laptops?

It's been awhile since the notebook bag sticky has been updated so I figured I would start a new thread.

I have a 18 month old Targus Drifter 2 that suits my space needs almost perfectly but is falling apart, two broken zippers and some ripped fabric have me looking for a sturdy replacement. While reading reviews I saw someone referenced 5.11 bags. These see sturdy and from what I'm reading it seems as though you can put a laptop in the hydration sleeve.

Has anyone used one of these bags?

If you have an Alienware 13, 15 or 17 R2 (2015 and later release) that uses a Graphics Amplifier and you like benchmarks, you've come to the right place. Please use this thread to share your results, ask questions or have general discussion related to the benchmark performance of these machines when using the eGPU (Graphics Amplifier).

Whenever possible, include a screen shot and a hyperlink to the results if they are validated online (i.e. 3DMark Suite, 3DMark 11, 3DMark Vantage, etc.)....

Hi, guys:

Welcome to MSI GS73 owners' lounge. I definitely think this is a great combination of power and the mobility. The key reason I choose 17" because I really want to have the 120Hz screen with 5ms response time !!!

I found a MSI 120Hz 5ms video on Youtube:

Time to get this thread going!

Cross posting from another thread my thoughts so far:

I picked up the GS63VR from Best Buy tonight and the first thing I noticed is the high pitched sound coming from the CPU fan (right side when looking at the notebook).. That's pretty much a deal breaker for me. If they aren't supposed to be like this, I may exchange this one.. Because I do a lot of video encoding which will peg the cpu to 100% for hours at a time and I can't deal with this high pitched...

I have a strange problem. My machine seems to turn itself on (from a full shutdown, not sleep) randomly if left on AC overnight. I have disabled all Windows settings to turn the machine on for auto-updates, as well as disabled auto power on in the BIOS.

Is there any setting I might have overlooked?

On BIOS 1.2.10 (not using anything newer due to flickering 4K screen).

Hi guys, short story. I used to have 3 Acer laptops 6930G, done some pretty nice modding on them in terms of RAM, CPU, GPU etc. I always wanted the Acer 8940g 8942G, but as they are no longer made it is very difficult to find one.

I was browsing a local deal website a few weeks ago and i just saw one listen as : Don't working, problem ? Keep restarting at installing Windows. Guy sold it like it was, as faulty !

I have bought it for 200euro, get it back home , install my Samsung SSD 850EVO...

For anyone wondering,
the new 17" Sager Displays with 120hz refresh have beautiful, clear colors.

When i calibrated my display the factory color gamut was the closest match to a post calibrated laptop display ive seen. Very good color gamut out of the box.

Most noticeable however is the crisp, clean, clear colors especially with graphics and fast moving gaming.

Laptops and displays, especially the 17" models are heavy, but its worth it do to screen quality.

Dont hesitate on getting one...

Hi all,

I was just wondering if this is normal for Sager 8678-S to have high temp while running Furmark. In about 4mins the temp reached 85C. Is this normal because it's a slim laptop?

Hi guys,

I got a replacement from dell for my xps 15 and I need to return the defective one. Do you guys have any recommendations to make sure that the nvme samsung pm951 can be securely erased?

I tried to the wipe option in bios but it didn't do anything. I already reset windows to its default setting. But I'm afraid that someone will still be able to recover deleted data. Further, I upgraded windows to pro so I have bitlocker. Should I use bitlocker to secure the drive?

Thanks all...

Should I get a Dell Latitude E5470 and how should I customize it?

Hi. I want a high quality small business notebook for doing work so I can take it with me if I travel (but I don’t travel very often). I already have a Dell Latitude E6420 with a dual monitor setup and a docking station and am leaning toward another Dell Latitude. It seems a bit heavy but I hardly travel and it has served me well.

Based on comments in the forum, I am thinking of the Dell Latitude E5470 but when I went online today Dell didn’t let me customize with a Solid State Drive....

My new gaming desktop... Goodbye notebook enthusiast?

Hey everyone,

That's right, you read the title correctly. After months of debating whether or not to stay in the gaming notebook arena, I folded and decided to purchase a desktop rig instead. The goal of this build is to quench my thirst for upgradeability and enthusiast-grade performance, but only for a casual gamer like myself. I'll be gaming on a 1920x1080 144Hz display. When Volta hits, I may upgrade to the ASUS ROG Swift 144Hz 2560x1440p display. :) For now, I'll be happy with...

After some digging it looks like the MSI GT 15.6" in flavor is making a return in the form of the GT62 VR edition. This appears to be an actual GT62 and not that unbranded barebones with a desktop CPU that we've seen in the past. An official GT62! So far I've seen 2 SKUs with the 6700HQ and 6820HK but GPU and screen is unlisted.

Other laptops inbound include the GT72VR, GS73/63VR, GS43VR, and GE72/62VR.

Hopefully we know more soon, but good news for anyone that wants the 15.6" GT...
