Install Nvidia 980M on MSI GX70

I searched around the forum for an answer, but I couldn't find it.
It seems the GT70 series have a Nvidia card, and the GX70 have a AMD card. However, both have a MXM-B 3.0 connector. So my question is: Would a Nvidia 980M work on a GX70 (which had a R9 M290X).

Reason is, because I can get a 980M cheap, but I want to test it to be sure. The 980M is from a MSI GT72.

Hi all,

I'm looking for a laptop for my work. It's purpose is to receive input video feed from our camera and perform "real-time" image processing and computer vision for demos to clients. The system is for automotive industry.
Right now we are mostly using matlab with image acquisition and parallel computing toolboxes, but will laso use CUDA and C implementations in the future.

I would like to get specs that are close to what we have for our in-vehicle PC (which is not portable):...

After getting good advice here, on July 29 I ordered a Lenovo E560, 256 ssd, 8 gigs ram, etc, at a good price (original thread was "Lenovoa E550-longevity?"

Was scheduled to ship Monday the 8th-but I got a message from sales rep asking if I was willing to switch to a hard drive. I said no. It now turns out that both the ssd and the lcd screen are indefintely unavalilable, and the old computer I was replacing stopped working. I'm limping along on my phone and a kindle fire.

My first step...

OK, we bought the 6420 through Dell refurbished last October, love it!

4 days ago we were running some dell cleaning programs to clean it up a bit and after a reboot, it would not boot into the OS, we just got a screen like this


Initializing and establishing link.........and not matter what I do it goes right back to this.

I tried holding F8 and messing with boot order but nothing, right back to this black screen.


I have an IT buddy and what he did was install a Windows 7 "ISO" he...

So for the last 2 years I've always been ordering Spigen cases/screen protectors for every single phone that I've owned and I change phones every 2 months so that's a lot of cases / screen protectors that I've bought.

Being a long time alienware fan and having used the amplifier I have been very interested in the razer core. I love the fact that its just USB-c and it can charge the laptop and handle usb/ethernet. Who here is planning on getting a core and if so, what card are you putting in there. The price was just released and it looks like it is going to cost $499 (-$100 if you bundle it with a new laptop). I am a little upset about the pricing, but eh, it looks good and I am sure people are going to...

Hello all,

Nvidia just dropped the veil on their new Pascal mobile GPUs, and Asus showed their new GLx02 line.

From what I can tell, we can expect both GTX 1060 and GTX 1070, as well as 75Hz GSYNC on select models

Dell Precision 7710 External Heat Testing

Below are images of the 7710 from a FLIR thermal imaging camera. The 7710 was left running at full load for 45 minutes on a solid wooden desk. Power pull from the wall averaged 200 watts with dips to 187 and spikes to 204. Room temp was 67F. All images are taken with the camera set to auto-scaling so the bar on the right hand side will show the min and max temps in the image.
