So, the problem begun like this: the laptop was working properly, with no problems for 4 months (late June - October). One day, 5 weeks ago, as I was trying to run an application, specifically Diablo 3, the screen went black, without any warning, but I could hear some game sounds in the background for a few seconds. I pressed the Shut Down button because I wasn't able to get back to Windows. I started again Windows, I retried to run Diablo and the screen went black again. I tried to restart Windows, trying to run other applications, the screen kept going black every time. All of the applications I tried to run were on the AMD 7970M GPU. Then I tried the Intel HD card to check if the problem remains and the screen became grey/ white this time, no matter what applications I was trying to run. After all of these the screen started to go black, while I running only Windows, on both cards. I read several tutorials on NBR Forums online and I formatted the pc and reinstalled the drivers again. I followed the whole procedure that Mr Fox suggests in the NBR Forums, step by step, correctly. I managed to run Windows again for a few minutes and then the screen went black again. Sometimes, when the screen was black,I could see some red and white horizontal flickering lines and some red and white squares! After all of these I contacted Dell Cyprus and delivered my laptop to them to fix it as my Warranty claims.

> > > When I gave them my laptop they told me that they would have it fix in 5-6 days. Days were going by, without any information about my laptop. Firstly, they were telling me that the AMD 7970M GPU problematic and that they asked for an approval to replace, however they did not mention who they asked an for an approval. Some weeks later, after trying desperately to contact them (they wouldn't pick up the phone, or they would say that they would call me back and never did), they told me that that the replacement was approved and that they would order the card from Holland, something that would take from 4 days to six months (!!!!!!!!!) because it was out of stock! Please note down, that I had informed them from day one that I had checked the online UK and USA store and the card was in stock but they insisted to wait for it from Holland. Today, after 5 whole weeks of waiting for my laptop to be fix, I am just being informed that they CANNOT fix my laptop and they WILL NOT proceed my case any further. However according to my European Warranty they are obliged to help me solve the problem with my 3000 dollar laptop! They told that I should pick my laptop.

> > > This is the story so far. I am vastly disappointed from your technical support team here in Cyprus [ Technica Cyprus / Laptops, iPhone, LCD TV, Computers & more / Notebook & Netbook sales in Cyprus ]. They have proved to be most unreliable and unprofessional and offensive towards me. They have been letting me waiting for five weeks, just to tell me that they have not the means to fix my laptop, a tool I need for my work, which has been on hold for over a month now, costing me time and money. I will get my laptop tomorrow and I will asked for a written verification/ certificate for the whole procedure (from the day I gave it to them till the day I got it back). It has been very painstakingly tiring for me, especially when I was being offended, by the technical support team, who they completely ignored the fact that as a sound designer for games and films and an electronic music producer I work with laptops and PCs non stop for the past 15 years! I would greatly appreciate your suggestions and guidance for my situation.

I was trying to log in to Windows for three days, after I picked up my laptop from Dell Technical Support Cyprus, and it kept blocking when the Alien Logo appeared (start BIOS). Finally I logged in and I realized that there were drivers installed, unsuitable for my laptop, like all the drivers on Dell's page. I tried to format my laptop again, i installed the correct drivers but I realized that AMD 7970M wasn't even connected to my laptop. I don't know if it was broken during the period that my laptop was "being fixed", since before handing in to the technical support I could start Windows up for a while, till the black screen appeared, etc etc.

> > I tried to connect an external monitor to my PC, as you suggested, and it worked for a while with Intell HD Card and then the flickering begun and the black screen appeared again. Due to the above information, it has been impossible for me to tried the AMD card as well. Now I can not even log in Windows, since every time I try to start the PC I hear the 8 beeps. So how do we proceed from now on? Looking forward to hearing from you! After explaining all this to (Gabriella Safarikova DELL UK SUPPORT)
she told me :

Thank you for your response. According to all you information and testing problem lies in defective graphics card - amd 7970m. (since you're experiencing the same problems on external monitor)

> > I would like to arrange a repair at your place. I assume you're currrently back in Netherlands. The earliest possible date is after 2nd of January.

> >

> >

And i explain again that:
Unfortunately there has been a misunderstanding. I do not live or have personally something to do with the Netherlands. I live permanently in Cyprus as stated in my previous emails. The only reason Netherlands was mentioned is because Dell Technical Support in CYPRUS told me that they had ordered and were waiting for the graphics card amd 7970m from the Netherlands. My laptop and myself are in Cyprus. I did not experience any other hardware problems with my computer so far, but then again I can't be sure that everything else is ok since I didn't really had the chance to work with it properly!
>
> Having stated again that my country of residency is Cyprus, how do we proceed? Do I send my laptop for repair so you can check it thoroughly and proceed with the necessary replacements? What do you suggest? Thank you for your help and understanding of the urgency regarding my case. Looking forward to hearing from you.
> And the answer was:
Dear Mr. Louk,
>
> Thank you for the whole explanation of your situation.
>
> Since you are living in the Cyprus you will have to cooperate with technical support there and wait for the new graphics card.
>
> I would be able to help you to arrange a technican just in case you are a Dutch customer. I'm really sorry but in this case I can't help you since I'm not supporting Cyprus. :(
>
> I hope you will have comprhension for it. Thank you for your patience and kind cooperation.
>
> In case of any questions don't hesitate to ask.
>
> Have a nice day and Happy New Year.
