Questions about edp display standard and T550 compatibility with B156HAN01.2

Hi everyone, I ordered a T550 with the base screen and would like to upgrade it after it arrives, I'm interested in learning more about the kinds of screens that are compatible electronically (voltage, current, what have you) to avoid any issues. Am I right in understanding that any edp screen can be used in any edp laptop, from an electronic standpoint? (physical size aside). It looks like there may be more than one version of the edp standard though.
