First time notebook shopping in like 10 years.

I really don't know what notebook tech is like right now in terms of cost/power. Even after shopping around a few different stores I still don't have a good idea of what I need.

I actually asked the same thing around here back in 2010 but never really bought one. If I'd gotten one back then I imagine I'd be replacing it right about now anyway.

Notes:
1) I really don't want or need an ultrabook, 2-in-one, or touchscreen laptop. I'm just looking at regular laptops with laptop/desktop...
