Well first of all I have been using my Alienware since the first day that it arrived, from heavy use to just watch movies, and I have only had 2 big issues with it and it was master ATI 3870 died and mobo.
I have been reading a lot of threads saying that Dell/Alienware are just very expensive plastic things that don't last longer and that they don't have any good customer service (Not in this forum only). So I decided to write my story to encourage those future new owners. :)
I have been in love with Alienware since around 2007. I was at high school so I decided to take a job to start saving my money to buy my beast gaming machine, unfortunately my car died and other stuff happened that make me wait more to buy it. At my first year at collage I was really in love with the custom painted AW so I talked with my brother and we decided to buy the machine together. So around September 2009 we finally get the money to buy it! It was so hard to decide what part to buy, to many options, but the money wont be enough to all those options! :(
At the end of the day we decided to make it:
Intel Q9000 (I think it was this one)
4GB memory
500GB raid 0
ATI 3870 x 2
1920x1200 resolution
and of course Skull Back Panel
The moment it arrived it was lighting fast. I was more than amazed of how fast this thing was! I was shock of how biometric and face recognition software could work so easily!! I didn't get any problem with it until around 5 months that I start noticing the very well known Quad Core "stutter" (I think that's how is called). But Alienware took its time to try to solve it. I talk with 3 different AW support members and the one that spent less time trying to solve it spent around 5 hours.
The last member make some kind of solving with installing Windows 7 ultimate all over again, installing every single driver, AW software, testing if everything was working. Amazingly this procedure took almst 2 days to be completed. I literally called the first day around 9 AM he started the procedure I went to collage and leave my brother with him at the phone, went back from collage and they where still working with it. He even told my brother to hang up the phone (I'm from Puerto Rico, so the call wasn't free) and he will continue working with my AW and if I need something or he need something he will contact me with the message thing (I don't know if that exists right now).
Around 9 PM he told me that he was about to go home, because he was almost out of work. So he left my AW some kind of stable and told me that he was going to call me the other day at 9 AM. I didn't believe him (I have been told that many times from other companies and I'm still waiting the call), but he did call me! Right after I started the service so that he could work with my AW he continued working with drivers and software. Finally around 3 PM he finished!! We test the laptop in 5 different games and benchmarks and it was solved! If I just could remember his name I would definitely call again just to tell him thank you for just an amazing customer care!!
I have been telling to anybody that wants a computer to take a look at Alienware before taking any decision. So far this have worked out, my brother bought an M14x, his friend bought other M14x and I'm currently looking to build my M18x and I'm sure that my brother will be following me, even building it or buying it directly to you Alienware.
Thank you very much for this 4 amazing years! and for such an beautiful and amazing computer! Keep it up
